George

(Originally Composed in 1998 and updated in July 27 of 2004)

I'm George Lonnie Weaver son of Lonnie Milford (Mike) and Ora Elizabeth (Betty) Robertson Weaver, I have one brother John Michael and one sister Linda Carol. I was named after both of my Grandfathers; George Bennett and Lonnie Claude, and my father Lonnie Milford. My line of the Weavers comes from John Green Weaver.

I was born January 1, 1952 in Oakland California Peralta Hospital while my father was stationed near by at Oakland Army Base. My father was a career army man, so our family traveled across the U.S. and Europe and Panama.

I married a Sanford girl, Denver Jean whom I met the year I graduated High School, and married two years later. Two years after that we had Samuel and nine years after that Scott. Her mothers lines are Shearer, Schneider and Cosgrove and her fathers Lines are Spencer, Hammond, Miller and of course Sanford.

My dad retired after 22 1/2 years active military in 1964 and in 1965 moved to Chico California where most of our branch of the family has since made their homes in the nearby communities of Corning, Durham, Paradise and Hamilton City. Dad worked for Standard Oil, Kennecott Corporation, and at 15 years of age joined the New Mexico National Guard, later became active and trained troops for the Pacific/Philippians campaign, was captured while on a reconnaissance mission as the HQ Squadrons Intelligence NCO driving the Intelligence Officer dodging machinegun fire and Jap Zeros strafing and survived the Bataan Death March, a firing squad,  to be imprisoned in Bataan, shipped in the the Totori Moru, and moved through Korea to Mukden Manchuria for a total imprisonment of 42 months, worked for the city of Chico, then Butte Creek Rock Company as a concrete estimator, and once retired had a small engine repair business supporting local construction companies. Dad was a Free Mason, Elk, Lion, and a member of the Paradise VFW. He bought a 1 ton GMC and 5th wheel 40' trailer and traveled across the United States and some parts of Canada and Mexico.  Dad died February 1, 1998 at age 78.  His lines are Quisenbury, and Weaver.

My mother worked as a grocery clerk, and during W.W.II worked in the war factories sizing bomb fuses material and turning lathes.  After my dad returned from home from Mukden Manchuria POW camp he met my mom and two weeks later they were married in Carson City Nevada.   My mothers lines are Robertson and Rutherford.

I was educated locally at Butte JR College and Chico State University in Horticulture, Computer Science and Business. I played high school football, wrestled and ran track at Pleasant Valley High School. I served one hitch and two extensions for a total of 5 years and 3 months, (Sept 8th '71 to Dec 8, '76,) in the U.S.A.F during the latter part of the Viet Nam era ('71-'76) in supply serving about 1 year at March A.F.B. California as a NORS Controller keeping the B52's, KC135's and other miscellaneous aircraft mission ready by locating parts from all over the country and sometimes the world, 3 years at Bitburg A.F.B. Germany in Allowance and Authorization help to transition the F16's and F15's, and the remaining time at George A.F.B. California as a Maintenance Supply Liaison. I have been self employed in computer software design and landscape maintenance, worked a short time for a computer timeshare company, and for the past 18 years (as of 2002) have carried the mail, as a HCR route and have been a Rural Mail Carrier in Chico California and web page designer for myself and the union I belong to.  I am currently the shop steward in my office for the Rural Carriers.

My brother John Michael was educated in pretty much the same as above, played high school football at Pleasant Valley High, two years at Butte College and served in the Navy '67-'71 stationed at North Island Naval Air base as an Air Frame Mechanic in San Diego California and has worked in construction as a general contractor and concrete and is currently a job foreman.

My sister Linda Carol was educated as above worked in sales at Osers of Chico, Property management, Rural Mail Carrier in Paradise California and now manages apartments in Chico California.

My great grandfather William Robertson came to Parry Sound area of Dunchurch Ontario Canada from Hamilton Scotland where he established a hardware business and later a coal business and had rental properties. He came over with his friend Harry Lauder, and entertainer/singer.

My grandfather George Robertson had orange groves in Redlands California, a hardware store in Patterson California called the Patterson Exchange and was the local Sheriff, then worked in construction during W.W.II in Canada, established a rental business in Richmond California.

My great great grandfather William Henry Weaver established a boarding house /hotel and farming business in Armstrong or Fannin County Texas.

My great grandfather John Green Weaver worked for the railroad, and farmed in northern Texas, then Deming New Mexico was married to Mary Jane McCurdy Collins who's first husband was murdered at the hands of a tenant while attempting to collect back rent. Mary Jane's story was published in 'The Unbroken Circle' by Plain View Press.

My grandfather Lonnie Claude Weaver was a carpenter, well driller contractor in Deming New Mexico and the surrounding areas.

My grandmother Eula Jane Quisenbury worked in the shipyards during W.W.II and was a Red Cross volunteer, divorced Lonnie Claude in 1932 and married Jack Greenwood, (who was the only Grandfather that I knew,) a factory worker in the Richmond California Pontiac plant, railroad worker, construction worker, demolition and concrete. Jack started with a bulldozer blade on the front of his jeep, and acquired several pieces of large construction equipment that he eventually merged with a local concrete business, Butte Creek Rock Company of Chico owned by Gilbert Alms. Jack retired from Butte Creek Rock Company in the late 60's.

My oldest son Samuel John was born at Bitburg AFB Germany, was educated at Hamilton Elementary, Notre Dame Elementary in Chico, and finally Hamilton High, where as an outstanding student and athlete where he, ran track, played baseball and football, selected as north section running back for the annual American Legion football contest, was sent to the state capital representing his school on government day, ranked in the top ten running backs for small schools in the Cal High Sports magazine, has received several local scholarships, played American Legion Baseball in Chico, coached Pony League teams and officiated sports for his community, worked for Louisiana Pacific Lumber Mill, waited tables for Chili's restaurant, a Councilor at Bloomfield State Rehabilitation facility for boys, received his baccalaureate degree at Sonoma State University in Psychology and will pursue his masters degree in Southern California while teaching elementary and officiating part time for Orange County in Southern California.  He is now married to Pam Mahler and has one son Chene from Pam's previous marriage and a 2 year old son, Tyler John, born April 20th 2002 and a relatively new baby girl Autumn Nicole born November 29, 2003 (her mothers birthday.)

My youngest son Scott MacDougal was born in Paradise California, educated at Hamilton High, is outstanding in English creative writing, typing rated at 98 wpm in high school, played some football, outstanding in computer science, database design and Information Technology, co-instructor for a web class at his high school, school computer technician, web page design, web site management for multiple DNS clients, database management for the CTAP of Butte County California, is fluent in several computing languages, custom builds his own state-of-the-art PC's, gaming design using database management and marketing techniques and is pursuing a degree in IT, Marketing, and Business in Southern California colleges, has worked as a part time computer IT specialist for a Southern California Elementary School and database design for a private individual, sales for Belkin product company now working at a an endeavor with an experienced CISCO wireless employee setting up wireless servers and designing and maintaining web pages for this and other entrepreneurs.
